Grade 2 listed building - Cricklade
81 High Street is a Grade 2 listed building origins 1670s on a pretty High Street in a conservation area close to the Thames. We moved here in February 2016. With full listed building planning permission, we have had the house professionally renovated, extended to include kitchen/living area 2 new shower rooms and landing loo. The house is very well insulated with underfloor heating in the new areas and new radiators and electrics in the old part of the house.
The kitchen is open plan and very easy to use, fully fitted with modern Neff appliances and Fisher Paykel drawer dishwashers. It looks over the large private back garden which offers plenty of sunny seating areas, veg beds, a double garage which provides off road parking at the rear. There is a double height ground floor wet room which also houses the washing machine
The original part of the house has a living room with Clearview woodburner and a spacious dining room which can seat 8. On the first floor are two double bedrooms, one with a large ensuite and the second with loo and basin opposite. On the second floor are 2 attic double rooms both used by us office space, very quick wifi. The rear attic room has an adjustable height desk which overlooks the garden and the front -currently with a single bed, and desk overlooks the street.

The house is on Cricklade High Street, which has restaurants,a good coffee shop, a CAMRA award winning pub, The Red Lion, with a brewery. A small supermarket (Tesco), excellent, award winning butcher, chemist, dentist, and 2 doctors surgeries.
Cricklade is a small town, popn. 4000, proud of its Saxon origins. It is in North Wiltshire, bordering on Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.

There is one direct bus daily from Cricklade to London Victoria and back.
Cricklade is a small and very friendly town, on a day to day basis everything can be done on foot from the house. We have a leisure Centre 10 minutes walk from the house with a warm pool, gym, tennis courts, and many clubs and courses.
Locally there are many flat walks. From the back of the house it is a 5 minute walk to join the Thames Path (the Cricklade to Castle Eaton section). Kayaking/paddle boarding is available at Lechlade. The cycling is good especially into the pretty Cotswolds villages
We are in the Cotswold Water Park, now an SSI, which is good for birdwatching and water sports. The Marlborough Downs and Avebury are 40 minutes south. Cirencester is an easy 10 minutes in the car, Cheltenham is 30 minutes, Oxford 40 mins.
The surrounding area has many pretty villages, walks , the famous wool churches and good pubs.
North Meadow, a SSSI is 200 yards from the house and has the UKs foremost collection of fritillaries. The town has character and is very well situated via the A419 for the M4 and linking to the M5.
